        • About Bible Church Preschool (BCP)

Traditional preschool themes while implementing a Biblical worldview within a developmentally appropriate framework.

Teaching Kids the Truth of the Bible

Promoting the love of God and loving others in our classrooms.

Bible Church Preschool seeks to teach children the Biblical truth that God created the earth and everything in it. The Bible is integrated into the study of traditional preschool themes and topics in each year of our program, helping children learn a Biblical worldview while providing opportunities for social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical and creative growth.

A Safe and Fun Environment for Kids

Providing a safe and welcoming environment that mirrors the love of God.

We strive to create an atmosphere that is fun and inviting while also establishing a predictable routine to give children a sense of security. We model and encourage kindness, sharing, conflict resolution, independence, self-control, perseverance, observation and exploration.

Led by Experienced & Trained Staff

Our teachers are qualified both in educational background and experience.

Bible Church Preschool’s teachers are carefully chosen based on their positive and inspiring dispositions, as well as for their educational backgrounds and experiences.

We realize that high-quality training is a vital part of what makes our teachers successful in the classroom, and each of our teachers participates in an extensive initial orientation, as well as ongoing professional development. We have processes in place that allow continuous mentoring, evaluation, and partnership to make sure that each teacher has the appropriate resources and knowledge to thrive within the classroom.

A Proud Member of the Durham Orange Preschool Association (DOPA)

We're active members in good standing with DOPA.

All DOPA member preschools accept children regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality or religion. We each strive to provide a warm and caring environment that is welcoming to all families. While curriculum varies from school to school, all DOPA member schools emphasize the importance of social and emotional learning, as well as learning through exploration and play. We each strive to provide an age appropriate balance between structure and play, while monitoring developmental goals and milestones. LEARN MORE ABOUT DOPA >

        • Elizabeth & Alexander Allori

Between our 3 children, we have been with Bible Church Preschool since 2011. We are not sure what we will do without BCP once our youngest goes off to kindergarten this coming fall. From our first tour of the preschool to the home visits from the teachers, our experience has been spectacular. We could not have chosen a better place for our children to develop socially and intellectually. There was never any doubt if our children would be ready for kindergarten under the compassionate and nurturing guidance from BCP teachers.

          Kelly & Malcolm Pettigrew

Our experience at BCP has been nothing short of incredible! We have seen both of our boys grow tremendously in their interactions socially & emotionally; in their desire to learn and explore their little world around them. I am amazed at the songs they come home singing and the stories they have to tell. They are learning so much through playing and reading and interacting with their classmates and teachers. Almost every morning my oldest child asks, “Is it preschool today?!” I have never heard of teachers who care so deeply about each child and parent as well as they do. They are patient, warm and welcoming, so organized and gifted in their specific age group. BCP has not just been a wonderful experience for our boys, but truly has been a gift to us as a family.

          Jean Paul & Julie Shaka

The teachers and staff at Bible Church Preschool are very nice and welcoming and give individualized attention and care to every child. Moreover, they go above and beyond by accommodating us with pick-up and drop-off times. Our children love their school, their teachers and the whole environment. We couldn’t have asked for a better and more trustworthy place for our children to grow and prepare for the next stage in their educational journey.

        • Our Educational Philosophy

Bible Church Preschool aims to bring to the classroom an understanding of child behavior, developmental learning, and a flexible curriculum through the guiding principles of Dr. Arnold Gesell.

Based upon The Gesell Institute of Human Development:

          • All children proceed through the same sequence of development, but each child grows through developmental stages in their own unique way and at their own pace.
          • There is an inner timetable, which determines the child’s rate of development. Trying to teach ahead of that timetable will result in only minor, temporary growth.
          • A favorable environment helps to ensure the realization of a child’s potential
          • Each child is unique in temperament and growth/learning style.
          • The environment should try to adjust to each child’s uniqueness.
          • The physical, social, emotional, and intellectual aspects of development depend on and support each other and should advance in concert; that is, one aspect should not be pushed ahead of the others.
          • We encourage an approach that enhances the natural unfolding process of the young child’s love of learning.
          • Since we cannot produce, speed up, or ignore readiness, we will understand and respect developmental age – where children are now, not where we think they should be.
          • Our expectations will be based on a sound understanding of what is developmentally appropriate for the various ages and stages of growth.
          • Evaluation of children’s growth is gathered from a variety of sources including parents, classroom observation, optional developmental screening, and other proper records.

Children spend the morning with two dedicated adult teachers per age group. In addition, there is an on-site Director daily.

Our program includes activities that encourage the development of expressive and receptive language, math readiness, science exploration, art, music, and fine and gross motor skills. Our children are exposed to books and opportunities for literacy development throughout the day. The children become familiar with letter sounds and numbers in the course of organic daily activities. Social skills are among the most important educational aspects for preschoolers, and those skills are intentionally modeled and nurtured within our classrooms. Additionally, children take part in engaging circle time that incorporates stories, songs, and movement, they have snack together, and they play to engage in many sensory learning experiences. Open-ended art is also a large part of our preschoolers’ day. We regularly implement various educational methods and models (particulary Reggio-Emilia, Waldorf, and Montessori aspects) to best fit the personal needs and learning styles of our students.

Bible Church Preschool focuses on traditional preschool themes and implements Biblical worldview within a developmentally appropriate framework.
